July 6 Update from me: Dexter is doing well - his wound is almost completely healed and his stools are good now. He is done with his antibiotics too. He gets fancy feast for breakfast and dinner and apparently really likes that! Hmmmmm...there goes my grocery bill. LOL! He deserves to have something special especially since he will probably never want to feel the comfort of a human touch. However, that is something I'm hoping to work on. He now has to have laser surgery on his back legs where there are pressure wounds from all the years of walking on them funny. I think it will help but it will take a series of treatments to make them better. From there I hope to bring him home, however, on July 20 I am having the brain surgery for the aneurysm. I leave July 18 for Gainesville (Shands) since preop will take all day on the 19th. I'll be in the hospital for at least a week but don't worry...I have all my cats being taken care of by the BEST! my next door neighbor and my pet sitter. Recovery will be long but once I am recovered the first thing I'll do is get Dexter home and get Puddin caught and put in there with him. I just can't wait until that day comes and it will be my inspiration to fight hard to recover quicker. I'll try to get some pictures of him this weekend and post them on the website. You should see how wonderful he looks....thanks to all of you! You made this possible. Thank you a million times....many paw hugs from Dexter too! Tami |
